Professor of Medicine (Pulmonology), UAB, and Consultant Physician, Master's Degree in Pulmonology

Since 2015, the Barcelona International Cough Conference (BICC) has been the leading international symposium dedicated to cough, the most prevalent respiratory symptom shared by most pathologies. Born in the area of influence of SEPAR, its evolution has gone hand in hand with regulations on chronic cough and clinical advances that have transformed its approach.

BICC brings together a multidisciplinary community of clinicians, researchers, managers, and industry to update evidence, discuss diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, and transfer knowledge to healthcare practice. Our program, currently under development, will feature top-level national and international speakers and will be published shortly.

Aims

Consolidate and disseminate the latest knowledge on cough and its clinical management, integrating the experience of national and international experts who will contribute their perspectives, advances, and research horizons.

More than a decade after the first edition of the BICC, the congress reaffirms its commitment to continuous updating and multidisciplinary collaboration on the most prevalent respiratory symptom.

General aims:

To update scientific knowledge on cough and its management, highlighting the advances made by researchers and clinicians.
To promote collaboration between physicians, scientists, patients, and industry to strengthen translational research and clinical practice.
To promote an integrated and comprehensive vision that favors the improvement of the diagnosis, classification, and treatment of chronic cough.

Specific aims:

To describe new clinical and pathophysiological approaches to chronic cough, as well as their impact on public health.
To present the therapeutic and technological advances that are transforming its clinical management.
To reinforce the international recognition of chronic cough as a distinct clinical entity, in line with the recommendations of the ICD-11 and the most recent guidelines.
